Hereof, how do automatic chokes work?
An automatic choke closes against spring pressure. During engine crank, it then exposes almost full manifold vacuum to the carburetor venturi, drawing a large amount of fuel through the main metering system. The choke plate and fast-idle cam are attached to the spring via the carburetor's throttle linkage.
Additionally, how does electric choke work on ATV? The choke is always on unless it is powered up and then (when powered) heats up and turns off. When the engine is cold the choke is on. An extra fuel passage is opened up and allows the fuel/air ratio to be enrichened by adding more fuel.
Also to know is, how does a fuel Enricher work?
A fuel enricher acts by opening additional venturis in the throttle. Both systems will usually have a spiral plate or ramp that slightly opens the throttle stop at idle setting, to help a cold engine stay running at idle.
What happens if choke is left on?
3 Answers. It will not damage the engine at all. All that will happen is that it will run richer, thus using more fuel. If you did it for thousands of miles you'd probably end up with more deposits in the engine/exhaust, but even that is easy to sort.
